Robot hawk to scare birds at airport

Posted on April 11, 2008 by Robin

This huge remote control hawk looks and flies like the real thing. It goes fairly quickly at 70 kph and has a wing span of 1.06m. Schiphol airport is running tests with it to see if they can use it to get rid of birds in the vicinity of the airport, as birdstrikes are extremely dangerous and damaging to jet engines and cockpit glass.
